IT for the heart of the Fraser Valley
Abbotsford is the largest city in the Fraser Valley and an important business centre in its own right. Agriculture is at its core: berry farms, poultry, dairy and greenhouse growers, along with the packers, processors and suppliers that serve them. Manufacturing and aviation businesses cluster around Abbotsford International Airport. Historic Downtown Abbotsford and the Sumas Way and Clearbrook corridors are home to professional offices, clinics, retailers and restaurants, and the University of the Fraser Valley adds students and staff to the local economy.
Most of these businesses don’t need, and can’t justify, a full-time IT employee. They need someone dependable to look after their computers, network, email, security and backups. That’s what our managed IT support provides, for a predictable monthly fee.
Remote first, with planned on-site visits
We’re honest about distance: Abbotsford is a drive from Metro Vancouver, so we run support remote first. Our helpdesk connects securely to the affected computer and resolves most requests, such as password resets, email issues, software problems and printer trouble, in minutes. Monitoring catches failing drives, full disks and missed updates before they cause downtime.
When a job needs hands on, such as a new network, a server replacement or an office move, we schedule an on-site visit and arrive with the parts and a plan. For managed clients, regular visits are part of the service.
Lessons from the 2021 floods
In November 2021, an atmospheric river flooded Sumas Prairie, closed highways and forced evacuations. Businesses that kept their only backups in the same building as their computers learned how fragile that is. Good preparation is not complicated:
- Keep a copy off site. Cloud backups, or backups stored in another city, survive when the office doesn’t.
- Back up cloud services too. Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace data needs its own backup.
- Know your restore time. A backup that takes four days to restore may not meet your needs.
- Plan for working away from the office. If staff can work securely from home, a closed building doesn’t have to mean a closed business.
Our backup and disaster recovery service puts these pieces in place and tests them regularly, so recovery is a procedure rather than a guess.
Agri-food, manufacturing and trades
Farms, packers, processors and manufacturers often run their operation from several buildings, with an office, a shop and equipment that all depend on the network. We connect outbuildings reliably, segment the office network from equipment and cameras, and protect payroll, ordering and traceability systems. Seasonal staff are common, so we make onboarding and offboarding quick and safe: accounts on day one, access removed on the last day.
Clinics and professional offices
Abbotsford’s clinics, accountants, law offices and financial advisors handle personal information that BC’s privacy law requires them to protect. Our cybersecurity services cover multi-factor authentication, email security, endpoint protection and staff phishing training, and we help with the technical safeguards behind your privacy policy.
